Bumming around Cuba is a great avocation (not allowed for USA citizen tourists). Many areas of Cuba remain unspoiled and enjoyable when "day tourists" leave the area. Getting to know the locals is an added treat. Until one knows the local people and area, it is recommended to stay in local homes, casa particulars or hotels prior to consideration of camping while you are in Cuba. There are restrictions and possible danger to being to cavalier bumming around Cuba at this time. Caution is the "watchword".
